For your information here you find a list of the most used and important technical terms with explenations:
Element for supporting and mounting structures used in event technology.

ANSI is the abbreviation for American National Standards Institute.
This institute has published a standard (measuring specification) for determining the utilised flux in fixed-resolution projectors. Lumen (lat.: light, lamp) is the photometric unit of the luminous flux. ANSI lumen describes the light output of a projector/beamer.
Resolution normally refers to the number of pixels that make up the raster graphics. It is usually indicated by width × height.
VGA: 640x480 pixels, SVGA: 800x600 pixels, XGA: 1024x768 pixels,
SXGA: 1280x1024 pixels, UXGA: 1600x1200 pixels, HD: 1920x1080
Synchronous technical communication media that serve the human visual and/or auditory senses through sound and image are referred to as audiovisual media (AV media).
AV media can be analogue (e.g. a VHS video tape), or digital (e.g. a MPEG encoded video). (Wikipedia)
Moving head: automated moving headlights or spotlights.
A free-moving multifunctional headlight used in theatre and event technology. It can be swivelled about all axes and is usually equipped with a colour changing system. The light beam can also be regulated.
By pressing the microphone button, conference participants can switch the microphone on or indicate that they wish to say something. Their contributions are emitted via the integrated loudspeaker or otherwise via an external audio system. Two delegates can listen to any interpreting channel via headsets independently of each other.
Refers to the entire technology that is necessary for interpreting. This equipment includes control units, interpreter booths with the interpreter microphones and the sound output equipment.
Colour temperature: The colour temperature is a measurement for the colour impression of a light source.
It is measured in Kelvin (K). It is defined as the temperature to that one would have to heat a black body so that it reflects light of a colour that is closest to the colour to be described.
While the sun has a colour temperature of approx. 5,500 K, the colour temperature of a blue sky is between 9,000 K and 12,000 K.
A light bulb with 40 W has a colour temperature of 2,200 K.
(Wikipedia)
Instead of sitting in a booth, the interpreter sits directly in the room and interprets directly into a microphone.
Adding the halogen bromine or iodine increases the life of the respective lamp to 2,000 to 4,000 hours for a colour temperature of approx. 3,000 K.
A chain hoist is a lifting tackle in that steel chains are used as load bearing medium. It serves for lifting and lowering free-moving loads.
The hoisting movement can be generated by manual operation, compressed air or an electric motor. (Wikipedia)
Equipment used for hoisting and transporting loads (e.g. chain hoists, hoisting platforms, wire rope hoists) is referred to as lifting tackle. Any lifting tackle comes with a test certificate and the user must arrange for its inspection by expert technicians in accordance with the accident prevention regulations at regular intervals. Metal halide lamps, a member of the high-intensity-discharge (HID) family of lambs. The compact arc tube contains a high- pressure mixture of argon, mercury, and a variety of metal halides. The mixture of halides will affect the nature of light produced, influencing the correlated color temperature and intensity (making the light bluer, or redder, for example). The argon gas in the lamp is easily ionized, and facilitates striking the arc across the two electrodes when voltage is first applied to the lamp. The heat generated by the arc then vaporizes the mercury and metal halides, which produce light as the temperature and pressure increases. Common operating conditions inside the arc tube are 70-90 PSI (480-620 kPa) and 2000 °F (1090 °C). The metal halide lambs are able to achieve up to 38% power in light, used on electronic ballast their service perfomance is up to 30.000 hours. Like all other gas discharge lamps, metal halide lambs take a few minutes until they reach complete light power, they are available in different color temperatures, rating from 2700k up to 20.000 k. Key benefits compared to the bulb chart are a considerably higher light efficiency between 80-100 lumen/watt.
Equipment for conferences including table microphones and simultaneous interpreting equipment, if necessary. Output of the voice of the interpreter is via the microphones to the headsets.
A liquid crystal display (LCD) is an electro-optical amplitude modulator realized as a thin, flat display device made up of any number of color or monochrome pixels arrayed in front of a light source or reflector. It is often utilized in battery-powered electronic devices because it uses very small amounts of electric power. (Wikipedia)
LED = Light emitting Diode A light emitting diode (or luminescence diode) is an electronic semiconductor component. Its advantages compared to a conventional light bulb: The LED consumes less energy, generates less heat, is insensitive to vibrations, reaches significantly shorter circuit times and has a long life for a low depletion layer temperature (!).
Lux is the SI (International System of Units) unit of the derived variable illuminance and the emitter size that corresponds to it, of the specific luminous emittance. Its unit symbol is: lx. Lux = quantity of light that is present on a surface (Lumen/m²).
Whispering equipment comprises one or more mobile transmitters with microphone for the speaker(s) and/or interpreter(s) and mobile receivers with several freely selectable channels for the audience. It is, for instance, used during factory tours, in museums, etc.
See "delegate microphone units".
The president microphone unit has priority over the delegate microphone units.
In event technology, a rig describes the suspension of loads, while the assembly process is known as so-called rigging. Trusses, among other things, are used, for instance for suspending loud speakers, headlights and video equipment.
Daylight lamps or full-spectrum lamps. Lamps of a colour spectrum that imitates natural daylight.
(Thin-film transistor, abbreviated as TFT). A thin-film transistor is a special field-effect transistor with that large-area electronic circuits can be produced. A popular use is the orientation of liquid-crystal flat screens in that three transistors are used per pixel. (Wikipedia)
PAL: Used in Central and Western Europe (D, A, CH),
SECAM: Used in France and in some regions of Eastern Europe,
NTSC: Used in America and East Asia (USA, Japan, Korea)
